Dr. Daniel Hatz attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he played football while earning his degree in Biochemical Cellular and Molecular Biology. He then graduated from medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and completed his orthopedic residency at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois.
After residency, Dr. Hatz joined the military and has served his country in the United States Air Force for more than 17 years. As a flight surgeon, he has flown in F-16s and practiced orthopedics with the military all over the United States, as well as in South Korea and Germany.
Dr. Hatz is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Hatz provides care for adult and pediatric patients, and his clinical interests include sports medicine, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, knee and hips replacement surgery, with a special interest in minimally invasive unicondylar partial knee replacement.
Dr. Caliste Hsu is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand and microvascular procedures and surgeries. Her discipline includes endoscopic and open carpal tunnel release, treatment for arthritis of the hand and wrist, as well as repairs for traumatic injury to the tendons, nerves and arteries. Dr. Hsu is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is fellowship-trained in Hand and Microvascular Surgery. Dr. Hsu sees patients by appointment in the Cass Health Surgery Clinic and she performs surgeries locally as well.
Zachary “Zach” Hollingsworth, PA-C, is a physician assistant specializing in surgical care. He regularly assists Dr. Matthew Weresh, orthopedic surgeon and Dr. Chad McCance, general surgeon, with surgical procedures and inpatient follow-up care. Zach also cares for patients in the Cass Health Surgery Clinic, coordinates with the surgeons to evaluate patients and clinical orders in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. He assists in surgery and coordinates with hospital staff to ensure optimal outcomes for patients.
Zach earned his Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University in 2013. He began working with Dr. Weresh at DMOS in January 2018 before joining the staff at Cass Health in November 2018.
Dr. Matt Weresh is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee procedures, ranging from complex joint replacements to simple joint procedures and surgeries. With over 25 years of experience in central Iowa, Dr. Weresh relocated his practice to Cass Health in 2018. Dr. Weresh is the first orthopedic surgeon to serve central Iowa with specialty training in trauma and fracture care, which are primary interests of his as well. He has been published in several articles and presentations on the national level in the fields of hip, knee and general trauma/fracture care. Dr. Weresh enjoys working with all age groups, including adolescents. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine, and then completed his orthopedic residency at Akron General Medical Center. He then went on to complete an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the Carolinas Medical Center. Dr. Weresh is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
