DESCRIPTION:Expecting moms and dads with young children are invited to participate in a Siblings Class at Cass County Health System on Tuesday\, June 4th at 7 pm. \nThe Siblings Class is a free class that will be held quarterly at CCHS. It is geared toward children between the ages of 2 and 10 to attend with their mothers who are at or past 34 weeks of pregnancy. \n“Having a new baby is a huge event for a family. Everyone focuses a lot of attention on the baby and parents\, which means that we often overlook the older siblings\,” said Brooke Dreager\, RN. “Our goal is to recognize the older siblings and help them with this big transition. We want the Siblings Class to provide a fun night for the parents to connect with their kids while talking about practical advice and skills to help the older child adjust to a new baby in the family.” \n\nThe class includes hands-on activities like swaddling\, feeding\, diapering\, and holding a newborn. Families and individuals are encouraged to come in to get their annual flu shot during this time. members of the McCarthy family will be on hand with additional information about the flu\, snacks and kids activities will also be available. \nThis special flu vaccine clinic is held in memory of Ayzlee McCarthy. After Christmas in 2014\, Ayzlee was diagnosed with Influenza A & B. A day later\, her mother knew something wasn’t right and brought her to the CCHS Emergency Department. Ayzlee was transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Blank Children’s Hospital\, where she died on December 29\, 2014.

DESCRIPTION:According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency\, 40% of businesses fail following a disaster and an additional 25% fail within one year.  In spite of these facts\, most businesses lack an effective business continuity plan or even an emergency action plan. \nSafeguard Iowa Partnership invites you to attend a free Business Continuity Workshop on Friday\, November 15 from 8:00am – 12:00pm. The workshop will be held at Cass County Health System in Conference Room 2. Registration is required and limited to 50 participants. \nIn many cases\, the thought of putting together a business continuity plan is overwhelming.  During this workshop\, you will be provided with tools you can use to help complete a hazard/vulnerability analysis that will give you insight into the threats that exist for your organization\, assistance in the assessment of how these threats may affect your mission\, and the development of your own framework for a business continuity plan.  This risk management approach allows you to examine all areas of threat\, vulnerability\, and consequence analysis required for the physical security of your organization and walk away with a foundation for your planning needs. \nWe will also provide you the opportunity to speak with emergency management\, law enforcement\, and other emergency response professionals to ensure that you have the proper input into your plan development. DESCRIPTION:Expecting moms and dads with young children are invited to participate in a Siblings Class at Cass County Health System on Tuesday\, June 4th at 7 pm. \nThe Siblings Class is a free class that will be held quarterly at CCHS. It is geared toward children between the ages of 2 and 10 to attend with their mothers who are at or past 34 weeks of pregnancy. \nThe class includes hands-on activities like swaddling\, feeding\, diapering\, and holding a newborn. DESCRIPTION:Healthy U & Baby\, Too! \nDr. Edna Becht is presenting at the first session of a brand-new series\, Healthy U & Baby\, Too! The educational presentation “The 411 on URIs” (Upper Respiratory Infections) is scheduled for Tuesday\, February 25th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the Ann W. Wickman Child Development Center. \n“Over the last five years we’ve built a really solid educational series\, Healthy U\, that we host at Cass County Health System. We are now expanding the same model to reach young parents at a time and in a way that’s more convenient for them\,” said Ann McCurdy\, Public Relations Coordinator. “We’ll provide free dinner and childcare so that the parents can eat\, relax\, learn a little\, and come away with good information that helps them care for their children.” \nHealthy U & Baby\, Too! is a three-part series geared to parents with young children\, and it is being held in conjunction with the support of Nishna Valley Family YMCA and Ann W. Wickman Child Development Center. The next two sessions will be held on March 17 and April 21; details will be released at a later date. \nAll Healthy U & Baby\, Too! events are free and open to the public. Parents do not have to have their child enrolled at the Ann W. Wickman Child Development Center to attend; childcare will be provided free of charge to any family attending. \nDinner will also be provided free of charge to families\, but a reservation is required. \nThank you for your interest!
