Bryan Folkers, DO

Medical Practice:

Dr. Bryan Folkers, Plastic Surgeon, is now providing care at Cass County Health System in Atlantic.  Dr. Folkers sees patients in the Outpatient Clinic and on a monthly basis.  He also does a number of surgical procedures at the hospital so patients don’t have to travel out of town for care.  “Atlantic has a great hospital with the capability to provide the specialty services I offer without patients having to travel,” he noted.  “For example, on my first clinic day here I treated a burn patient who came into the Emergency Department.  He will have all of his treatments done right here.  Burn treatment can be done and done well right here in Atlantic.”

Dr. Folkers is a partner in Bergman & Folkers, a plastic/reconstructive and hand surgical practice based in Des Moines. Dr. Folkers provides a wide range of plastic and reconstructive procedures, including:

  • Skin evaluations and cancer treatments
  • Breast reconstruction, both cosmetic and after cancer treatments
  • Facial reconstruction after fractures
  • Hand surgery, including carpal tunnel and trigger fingers
  • Burn reconstruction
  • Scar revisions
  • Body contouring, including tummy tuck and liposuction
  • Facial rejuvenation, including eyelid skin removal and face/neck lift

“Growing up in Waterloo, I’m an Iowa boy at heart,” he explained.  “I really think it’s important to support the smaller towns and hospitals.”  Bergman & Folkers has seven satellite clinics in smaller communities. Dr. Folkers received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Iowa State University and his medical degree from Des Moines University Medical School.  Dr. Folkers completed General Surgery Residency at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines and continued his training in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Hand Surgery at South Pointe Hospital/Cleveland Clinic Health System.  He is a Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
