Markham's 29 years of service to CCHS

“Everything!” That was Pat Markham’s initial response when asked what has changed over the course of her 29 years of service to Cass County Health System. First of all, Cass County Health System didn’t even exist when Pat started – it was just Cass County Memorial Hospital. Pat led the way through a series of changes to unify medical services (Cass County Memorial Hospital, Atlantic Medical Center, Eye Associates, Southwest Iowa Mental Health Center and Southwest Iowa Surgery) under the Cass County Health System banner.

Pat came to Cass County Memorial Hospital as Assistant Administrator in November 1984 and was promoted to Administrator/CEO in June 1988. She couldn’t possibly have imagined all the changes that would occur in the world of medicine over the next 29 years. And those changes are part of what has kept the job challenging and interesting for so many years.
