Foundation Campaign Continues

ATLANTIC – As a mother, Katherine Becker, RNC, knows first-hand how reassuring it is for an expectant mother to hear the heartbeat of her child. As an experienced obstetrics nurse at Cass County Memorial Hospital, she also knows that fetal monitoring can save a life.

“Fetal monitoring is our lifeline to that child,” said Katherine. “It’s the only way we have to communicate with the baby.”

When Katherine was 35 weeks pregnant with her third child, it was a fetal monitor that showed her baby’s heart rate was in the range of 80 beats per minute – a dangerously low rate for an infant. After an emergency C-section and several weeks in a NICU, Katherine’s daughter is a healthy, rambunctious 22-month-old.
