CCMH Receives Stage 6 Recognition

Cass County Memorial Hospital was recently recognized as a Stage 6 Hospital, one of the first in Iowa to achieve this prestigious designation. Stage 6 refers to the electronic medical record (EMR) adoption model developed by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMMS) in 2005. The model is used to evaluate the effectiveness of EMR systems in hospitals throughout the country.
“Essentially, the Stage 6 designation means we have been assessed to be utilizing our healthcare information technology effectively to enhance patient care and safety,” explained Steve Stark, CCMH Chief Information Officer. “There are very specific criteria that must be met to receive this recognition.”
